The casting cooler is used for forced cooling of castings, which are produced on automatic green sand molding lines. For this purpose, after separation from the sand, the casted parts are conveyed through the casting cooler. The casted parts are cooled down to the desired exit temperature by countercurrent air flow cooling. 

The slider crank drive is designed for gentle, low noise transport of the castings without vertical acceleration. The casting cooler is designed for the respective production range and spatial requirements. The casing coolers can also be realized as curve channels or in slightly increasing version up to 5°.

Three process steps ensure the optimal treatment of the castings on the Küttner casting coolers
  1. Cooling too fast in the upper temperature range can lead to structural changes and impermissible residual stresses of the castings. The so-called convex cooling curve is achieved by gentle cooling with preheated air in this area, and rapid cooling in the lower temperature range, by means of multi-stage, temperature-controlled humidification of the cooling air via atomizing nozzles in the cooler hood.

  2. Controlled cooling requires precisely adjustable conveying speeds or dwell times of the castings in the cooling channel, regardless of the mold and size. It is achieved by the change between the conveying  and pausing time while operating. The conveyor channel tuned to resonance is slightly lowered in frequency for certain preselectable intervals. This tuning results in a considerable decrease of the oscillation range, which interrupts the conveying of the castings for the time of the applied new frequency. In this way, free adjustable dwell times can be set while avoiding the range of uncontrollable small conveying speeds.

  3. Vibrating conveyor and vibrating cooling hood form the cooling channel into which air is blown at a high rate in countercurrent flow. The air is moistened in the first section via a water spray/nozzle system, depending on the temperature. The hot exhaust air is taken to the dedusting unit.
